When someone has dizziness, also known as Vertigo, the entire world appears to spin out of control, with the nearest solid object acting as a lifesaver.

Vertigo is a common complaint, particularly following head and neck trauma. It could be caused by issues with the inner ear or by disruptions in nervous system pathways. The experience can have a wide-ranging impact, causing nausea, vomiting, and sweating.

If you are experiencing Vertigo, your chiropractor may be able to assist you. Chiropractic solutions are outlined in a recent Livestrong report.

Chiropractic manipulation can relieve Vertigo: “Your chiropractor will use manipulation to target joints that are not moving properly.” Faulty motion patterns in the upper neck cause misinformation about body position and movement to travel from the joints to the brain. Chiropractic manipulation can help with this type of Vertigo, called cervicogenic Vertigo.”

Positioning Maneuvers: The vestibulocochlear system, which houses the body’s true balance centre, is housed in the inner ear. This complex system of fluid-filled tubes lined with hair-like sensors transmits position and movement information to the central nervous system. Debris may accumulate there in some people. Vertigo may occur if this debris settles on sensitive areas within the tubes.

If the Vertigo appears to be coming from the inner ear, a chiropractor may use the Epley Maneuver to move the debris to a more innocuous location.

Your chiropractor will also provide exercises. For example, in exercises such as the Brandt-Daroff technique, a person sits on the edge of a bed and flops to one side, back upright, and then to the other at one-minute intervals. Tai chi exercise may also be beneficial because the slow, controlled movements allow you to focus on your body movements and balance in a safe environment.

Your chiropractor in Singapore will review your diet and daily habits to rule out any other causes of Vertigo. Tobacco, alcohol, caffeine, and other stimulants and depressants of the nervous system can all become triggers. Nonprescription sleeping pills and antihistamines can also cause dizziness. Your chiropractor may also recommend meditation, relaxation, or breathing techniques to regain control.

As you work on your diet, new daily habits, and relaxation techniques, consult with your doctor to round out your health picture.
